Mr Martin Kenyon

BChD, MSc, MCGDent, PGCert

Born and educated in Lancaster, Martin studied dentistry at the University of Leeds, graduating in 1983. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Lytham and following a brief period as an associate dentist, established the Practice at its current location in 1986.

During this early phase of his career, Martin embarked on a research-based Master of Science degree at the University of Manchester, supported by Johnson & Johnson, which he completed in 1989.

In 1988, Martin was appointed as one of the first Vocational Trainers for newly qualified dentists in the North West. At just 25 years old, he remains one of the youngest to have held this position. He also served as a visiting lecturer at Blackpool and The Fylde College from 1988 to 1996, where he taught on the dental nursing course.

In 1996, Martin completed the two-year Regional Extended Orthodontic Course at the University of Manchester. During and following this time, he volunteered as a clinical assistant in the Orthodontic Department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Martin was appointed Postgraduate District Dental Tutor for North West Lancashire in 2001 by the Manchester Deanery, a role that involved organising postgraduate dental education for local practitioners. In 2008, he earned a University Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Professional Practice from the University of Central Lancashire, completing the course part-time over one year.

Further enhancing his clinical skills, Martin completed a Multi-System Implantology Course accredited by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK), receiving certification in 2011.

He was elected Chairman of the Fylde Section of the British Dental Association in 2002 and has served on several professional committees, including the Local Dental Committee, District Dental Advisory Committee, and more recently, the Routine Care Network for NHS England.

Martin is a member of the British Dental Association, British Endodontic Society, British Orthodontic Society, and the College of General Dentistry. His clinical interests have focused on endodontics and the restoration of severely broken-down teeth.

Having known and treated many of his patients for over 35 years, Martin has now retired from routine clinical care. He continues to play a key role in the Practice, advising on complex cases and contributing to the ongoing development of its infrastructure.

Martin lives locally with his wife and enjoys travelling, circuit driving, DIY projects and spending time with their three grandchildren.
